You may have noticed I have been quiet on the blog for a while. We have had some significant upheaval in family life and honestly, I have just been too busy holding it all together to write much. Thanks to all who have offered up thoughts and prayers to our family as we have soldiered on through the events this past winter. Please bear with me as I get back into the swing of things here on the blog
My Mother in Law Passes
Our most trying event was the passing of my wife’s mother back in December. Below is the tribute my Sister-in-law, Robyn wrote about Mom.
“Sandra Elaine Bancroft passed away at 1:40 am on Tuesday, December 18, 2018. Her husband of 53 years and her oldest daughter were with her, holding her hand as she very peacefully left this world. She died of severe medical complications that occurred from a Strep A blood virus that forced her to enter Christ Hospital MICU on November 15th. Sandra had most recently beaten endometritis cancer and a year of chemo, but this battle was one that her weakened body just could not overcome. It doesn’t seem fair for this to happen to such a loving, caring woman who would strike up a conversation with an offer her help to anyone, anywhere, anytime. I know she brightened the day of countless people.
Mom’s wishes were to be cremated and buried in Adairsville, Georgia alongside her mother and grandparents. We are in the process of planning a graveside service and celebration of her life to occur next Spring when family and friends from across the U.S. can travel and be together.
She worked for two decades as an Administrative Assistant in a number of different departments at Kennesaw State University (serving as President of the Georgia Association of Educational Office Professionals, 1999-2000). She loved many things, but when we think of her what comes to mind most is her love for animals (especially her pets Bella and Casey) and the visual arts (one of her hobbies was painting and drawing).”
