This is a dry red with aroma and flavors of black and red cherry. Complex hints of spices and oak are apparent deep in this Pinot Noir. This is a very approachable and drinkable wine that will pair well with all manner of dishes from Cheeseburgers and grilled salmon to a turkey dinner with all of the sides to make a wonderful Christmas dinner.   The Mark West Winery was founded in 1978 with the goal of producing great California Pinot Noir. The winery says they did not choose the Pinot Noir, the Pinot Noir grape chose them. I think this 2012 mark West Pinot Noir vintage is a great California wine.

    1. Deana,

Thanks for commenting. I will only say this, the 2014 Mark West Black is very different than 2012 I tasted and wrote about. I am not sure you can compare the two on the same playing field.
