This Pinot Noir is grown in the unique soils of Lake County California. This is a late ripening fruit which allows the grapes to develop longer on the vine. The rich volcanic soil of Lake County and the wide range of temperatures swings you would expect to see grapes such as Syrah and Grenache to be to be the staple of the winery. However two families took the challenge of growing Pinot Noir in this environment. The grapes from these two vineyards provide the fruit to Jed for this wine. The Shooting Star Pinot Noir is a deep ruby red color. Aromas of cranberries, strawberries and cherries fil the nose. Across the pallet the flavors of dried cherry, floral tones with an earthy cinnamon notes to put an exclamation point on a clean dry finish.

Pair this pinot noir with roasted chicken, fall salads, crab cakes as main dishes or with cheese cake for dessert. This wine sells for $10 to $15 for a 750ml bottle.
