I got to spend a few days in Miami on a business trip, lucky for me the Provident Doral at The Blue met the Per Diem rate I am allowed to spend for hotels. This turn out to be a great choice. The hotel property reminds me more of a residential property than a hotel. All of the rooms have patios that provide views of Miami’s most famous golf course, “The Blue Monster,” the hotel is nestled into 17 lush acres with a selection of beautifully appointed Blue Suites, Deluxe One Bedroom Suites, and Three-Bedroom Villas. In addition to spacious hotel accommodations, The Blue offers a serene swimming pool and sundeck with a pool bar, as well as signature restaurant, the 5300 Chop House and Lounge and a fully equipped 24-hour fitness center on site.
The suites are stylish, modern furniture and decorations are the rule with a fully equipped small kitchen. Although I really cannot see the kitchens getting much use at this high end property. The real high point for me, is the jetted tub. Since I did not get back from work in time to enjoy the pool and hot tub, the jetted tub in my room gave me a chance to relax and unwind. In all truth, I think the bathroom in my suite is bigger than my entire dorm room in college. The shower is huge, with a rain shower head and the ability to control the water temp precisely The dual sinks make this ideal for a couple to travel together.
While the resort has a pool it is only 4’8” deep, while you could swim laps it is more for sunning by rather then swimming. The spa pool, while good and hot is small and really not practical. This is definitely a place for business travelers or couples. Not a family destination.
On this trip we did not eat at the 5300 Chop House, but I did spend some time in the bar. The bar only has bottled beer, and it is a pretty standard selection, my favorite being the La Rubia Blond Ale from Wynwood Brewing Company in Miami. On the brighter side then lounge at the 5300 has a great win selection. The food at 5300 looked fantastic and other patrons in the bar all said it was great. The Spa Azual is here at the Provident, and while I did not get to experience their services the prices are in line with what I have seen at other resorts of this caliber.
The Provident Doral resort is next to the Trump National Doral Golf Resort which is legendary for the five resort golf courses, there are many other courses in the area, and many remarkable recreational activities available within surrounding Doral.
The video below is a tour of my room. it is my first attempt and I did forget what I have told other to do and rotate the phone I was using for a camera, but it will show you what my room was like.
