Anthony Bourdain was one of the the travelers I have really enjoyed watching over the years. The way he could blend travel, food and culture always made for great story telling. He also had the amazing ability to show not only the good parts of a destination but bring awareness to the not so good parts. I remeber one of his shows from Columbia I belive. The police took him out to witness the burning of a big haul of cocain. he talked a little about that, but spent most of the segment showing and talking about the people making a liffe out of digging through the garbage at the landfill.
I do not kow what drove Anthony Bourdain to take his own life. I do wish he had ask for help. In a previous job, I did a lot of suicide prevention work. I just hope that Anthony Bourdain’s death can rais awareness.
People tend to think that asking for help is a sign of weakness. I think that knowing you need help and asking for it takes more courage and shows more strenth than most people will ever know.
If you need help, it’s out there. Please call. You are not alone.
No matter where you are in the world, there are people willing to help.
