A few weeks ago my son and I got the chance to attend the public preview event at Globe Life Field. This is the new indoor ballpark that will be the home of the Texas Rangers. This new 1.7 million square foot facility will have a retractable roof and many fan amenities.
The Rangers broke ground on Globe Life Field on September 28, 2017. Over the 2 and a half years of the construction project, some impressive numbers have been put up by builders. The excavation of the site required the removal of 1.3 million cubic yards of material. That required 97,000 truckloads to complete. The foundation consists of 780 piers drilled into the earth. This foundation supports 10,000 yards of concrete used to pour the lower concourse. The upper structure of the stadium is supported by 725 concrete columns which took another 6,575 yards of concrete to pour.
At this point, the arena is 90% complete and on track to host its first event on March 14th, 2020. The first major Leauge Game will be March 23rd as the Rangers host the St. Louis Cardinals in a pre-season exhibition game. The Rangers home opening day will be March 31st.
Adjacent to Globe Life Field is and entertainment district, Texas Live! This district features an outdoor performance venue, bars, restaurants, bowling, and shopping. Restaurants from chefs like Guy Fieri headline the eateries. While a Tap Room by Revolver Brewing brings Texas Craft beer to the district.
Texas Live! also, boast a hotel, Live by Lowes. This 14 story, 300 room luxury hotel will put you right in the hear of the Arlington Stadium District. Staying here puts you just steps away from Globe Life Field and the Rangers. Right across the street, will be Dallas Renegade, the new XFL team, and you are an easy walk to AT&T stadium for all of the events there.
